While many installations will call for a customized solution, Universal Vortex does offer several standard vortex tube products that work in a wide range of applications.
Single Path Vortex Pilot Gas Heater (VPGH-SP)
The Single Path Vortex Pilot Gas Heater (VPGH)-SP protects pilot operated gas regulators from freeze off by self heating pilots at pressure regulation station. The VPGH-SP is a flameless, coilless, energy-saving and maintenance-free alternative to conventional pilot heaters (i.e., Catalytic Pilot Gas Heater or Electrical Pilot Gas Heater).
Dual Path Vortex Pilot Gas Heater (VPGH-DP)
A Dual Path Vortex Pilot Gas Heater (VPGH-DP) performs on the same principles as the VPGH-SP.It has a larger heating capacity and can efficiently heat pilot gas flow twice as much as the VPGH-SP’s pilot gas flow.
Vortex Pressure Regulation Station (VPRS-CNG)
A uniquely designed Self-Heating VPR (VPR-CNG) provides for a single-stage pressure reduction of non-preheated gas from up to 5,000 psi to a desirable downstream pressure of a typical 60-100 psi. Eliminates gas preheat boilers. No emissions or gas consumptions. No limitation on flow rate. Available in standard sizes as well as customized adaptations.
Vortex Pressure Regulation Station
(VPRS-PIPELINE / VPRS-FARM TAP)
VPRS-PIPELINE provides for a single-stage pressure reduction of non-preheated pipeline gas, typically @1,000- 1,500 psi to a desirable station’s pressure of a typical 100- 400 psi. Eliminates gas preheat boilers. No emissions or gas consumptions. No limitation on flow rate. VPR-Farm TAP provides for a single-stage pressure reduction of non-preheated gas for relatively small pressures (e.g. inlet @500-700psi, outlet @50-100 psi) and small flow rate (e.g. 300-2000 SCFH). Both products are available in standard sizes as well as can be customized per requirements.
Vortex Cooling System for CNG Compression (VCS-CNG)
The VCS_CNG design takes advantage of the low temperatures available at the VPR unit’s discharge by chilling the compressed gas as it fills the portable CNG tanks, increasing the accumulated gas filling capacity in the daughter tanks. Eliminates or supplements chillers. Up to 67 degrees F colder than compressor outlet, with no moving parts!

The vortex tube (VT) generates cooling and heating duty as a result of routine pressure reductions in expanding gas. In UVI’s patented VT design, a portion of the generated hot gas internally applied to warm the VT inlet nozzle (non freeze provision!). This makes the VT a self‐heating pressure reducer. The self‐ heating design allows for using the VT to serve as a primary non‐freeze pressure reducer, thus eliminating the need for upstream gas preheat.
